Austrian Embassy Viennese Waltz Lessons and Dance Rehearsal for Viennese Ball
Learn how to dance the Viennese Waltz, as it is danced in Vienna, in time for the Viennese Ball and other Galas. Attend on your own or with friends. No partner or prior dance experience needed to sign up.

Business or cocktail attire requested. Due to turns involved with the Viennese Waltz, we recommend leather soled shoes. Please do not wear rubber soled shoes.

Event Description

Whether you plan to attend our Viennese Ball at Austrian Embassy or would simply like to learn how to dance the Viennese Waltz, as it is danced in Vienna, don't miss this rare opportunity to learn how to dance one of the most elegant and romantic dances of all time. The lessons will be taught on a wooden dance floor at the Austrian Embassy, one of the most magnificent embassies in Washington DC.

During the lessons Austrian wine (served to guests 21+) will be available for purchase at the cash bar. Please bring cash for the cash bar and note that the dance lessons does not include food so please plan to have dinner before or after the event.

Their Viennese waltz lessons include the Viennese waltz (Linkswalzer, Rechtswalzer, hesitation step), posture, dance etiquette, and the Handkuss (hand kiss), as well as an introduction to the Viennese balls and to the Viennese waltz music of the Strauss dynasty. We are also glad to answer your questions about the Viennese waltz as well as the upcoming Viennese Ball during the event.

Space is limited, so please make your reservations early.

All online ticket sales are final. We are unable to issue refunds for tickets purchased due to expenses incurred to present the event.

Event Agenda (May change)

6-8PM Viennese Waltz Session: Arrive and check in at the Austrian Embassy at 6:00 PM and enjoy Austrian wine at the cash bar. Meet other attendees and prepare for the Viennese Waltz lesson that will start shortly after 6:15 PM. After the lesson practice dancing the Viennese Waltz to recorded music until 8PM. Event concludes at 8PM for the 6-8PM Session attendees.

7:30 PM to 10:00 PM Viennese Waltz Session: Arrive and check in at the Austrian Embassy at 7:30 PM and enjoy Austrian wine at the cash bar. Meet other attendees and prepare for the Viennese Waltz lesson that will start shortly after 8:00 PM. After the lesson practice dancing the Viennese Waltz to recorded music until 10PM. Event concludes at 10PM for the 8-10PM Session attendees.

The Embassy is located about 3 blocks from the Van Ness Metro station. Parking for the Austrian Embassy Viennese Ball is limited to street parking in the vicinity of the Austrian Embassy. There will be no parking available at the Austrian Embassy. Due to the limited availability of parking, Uber, a cab or another transportation arrangement is highly recommended.
