:: Live Gamelan Music and Evening of Indonesian Culture
Indulge in a magic presentation of Indonesian culture with live Gamelan music from Indonesia. Gamelan is an Indonesian musical ensemble featuring a variety of traditional Indonesian instruments such as metallophones, xylophones, drums and gongs, bamboo flutes, bowed and plucked strings. In Indonesia, gamelan usually accompanies dance, performances, or rituals and special ceremonies.

Local dance company Santi Budaya presents dances from Sumatra, Kalimantan (Borneo), and Bali, as well as selected fashions featuring traditional textiles. By special invitation, the internationally recognized master dancer and choreographer Rianto will perform a new work he has created in honor of this occasion.

The cultural program representing and celebrating the different islands and regions of Indonesia is a wonderful opportunity to experience the Indonesian culture.

Enjoy a celebration of Indonesia’s diverse cultures in an evening of music, dance, fashion, and food. We are delighted to present a memorable closing event, as the Indonesian Embassy prepares for a major multi-year renovation of its historic chancery building. Local performing company Santi Budaya will be joined by the internationally recognized master dancer and choreographer Rianto, who has created a new work in honor of this occasion. Santi Budaya will present several traditional dances, as well as a fashion show with accompaniment by the gamelan music group.
